“It is our civic responsibility to uplift and honor those that have sacrificed their own safety and security to allow us to experience ours. We owe our nation’s Veterans much, and in doing so, we witness how our patriotic support uplifts them”, Nissa Salas.
Nissa Salas is the wife and caregiver to service connected disabled Veteran Mark A. Salas. She started Alec’s Angel nonprofit for Veterans after previously serving as an elementary public school teacher and after gaining her master’s degree in educational administration. While studying to be a personal trainer and working in several high quality gyms (to advance the physical abilities of her husband who was injured in service), Nissa began volunteering to serve her husband and other injured Veterans in their journey to access claims benefits at the Dallas Veterans Affairs Hospital. Many of the Veterans she has assisted have either doubled or tripled their claims rating with the first visit to the VA.
